Design Wall Monday

Monday is not over, yet.  And I promissed some pictures, so here we go.  This is the quilt on my design wall.  It is a zig zag quilt.  I know that is obvious, LOL...  I cut this out after Christmas. I got the pattern from a magazine add.  This pattern is called Chevy Twist Cuddle.  I cant find which magazine.  I redrew it in EQ7 to get the size I wanted, a twin-ish.  The blocks are cut 4 1/2 X 8 1/2 then sewn together.  The lay out is on point, that is why there is a long unfinished section on the diagonal.  All of the white is the same and has stars in red and blues, the blue and red zig zags are different.  I am really liking this one.  Now if I can get the time to finish it....

Last week I went to our state quilt guild's Spring into Summer retreat.(Quilters of SC)  A great time was had by all.  Here is a top I made for a class I was going to teach at our fall retreat, but not enough folks signed up for it, so This top will be a QOV (quilt of Valor), I do believe.  I am loving this one, so it will be hard to give away, but going to a great cause.  Our state guild challenge this year is QOV'S.  We will be passing these out here in SC to our great service personal.

This next quilt is designed by Lynn from our longarm quilting group here in SC.  This is a challenge quilt to see how many different ways we can quilt it.  The idea is for it to be a Modern Quilt.  I am still not sure what that is??  LOL  Wayne is my quilt holder.  He is making faces at me.  Having fun.

Next is a T-Shirt quilt I just finished for a customer.  Her daughter graduates from high school Friday.  This is the first time I didnt use any sashing or other fabric... Turned out kind of nice, if I must say so my self.  LOL  I used the left over pieces of the shirts to make a mock border... really looks good. The back was a fleece throw the customer had.  So, this was also the first time I quilted with fleece.  NOT really fond of it.. when I trimed it for the binding the fleece fuzzed everywhere, I mean everywhere.  I shook it out outside and that didnt get it all off, so I threw it in the drier on no heat for 10 min. and presto... all the fuzys were gone.

This Post is getting long.  I sure have a lot of catching up to do.  Finially here is my Glyeen Fitzgerald mystery quilt.  Finished, well almost, it is on the quilting frame ready for me to get it quilted tomorrow, I hope.  It is called Garden of Eden.  You can find it on her website  http://www.colourfulstitches.com/

I think I am caught up for now.  I am out of new pictures.  I will try not to get so far behind again... you believe that???  I will always get behind.    Cant get spell check to work, please forgive the miss spelling.  I am terriable at speelin........

Happy Quilting, Vicki

Spring into Summer QSC retreat

Got back from the 1st Spring into Summer QSC retreat.  This was a bring your own project retreat.  We started after 3pm Sunday and finished up Wed. at lunch.  There were 30 of us at White Oak Conference Center near Winnsboro SC.  My project was to make a new quilt for William. It looks American Indian, as it is supposed to. William went to Jackson Hole, Wy on a Scout trip.  He was gone over my birthday.  He found a quilt shop and bought me fabric.  He bought 4 yrds of the blue and 5 yrds of the orange.  So, I am using them in his quilt.  What do you think???  Wonderful if I must say so myself. LOL  Others at retreat said I need to show this quilt before I give it away.  Still have to quilt it and then I will decide.  William may want it first, so will be up to him also.  This took most of my time to piece.

Next are pictures of others at retreat.

Me and Verity

Here is Harry Sue making rugs.  She made 3.  See the basket, it was full of strips sewn together.  Crazy lady, but had 3 wonderful rugs at the end.
Monday nite we watched a video about Quilts of Valor.  It had Alex Anderson, Mark Lipinski, and Eleanor Burns coached 3 non-quilters making quilts.  Then at then end the now new quilters presented their quilts to vets.  What a great show.

Tuesday nite we had smores out by the fire pit.  Forgot to take my camera out, but fun was had by all.

We all said we would like to do this again next year, so keep your fingers crossed.  If you are a QSC member, let your board members know you are interested.
