My Birthday

Today is my birthday. It was a good day. Saturday DH took me to the quilt store, found some bargains plus they had a sale. We shopped for a TV. Didnt buy one. Ours is acting up. Boy are they expensive now. The last one we bought, about 7 years ago, was only around $300. I dont think we will get out of this under $1000. I am sure going to wait until the old one goes and may watch the 13in screen for awhile after that. Anyway after that, DH to me to Outback, was best steak I have had in a while. The on to the movies. We say Mama Mia. Yes, he was wonderful an took me to a chick flick. We both laughed alot. So it was a very good day. Sunday my Dad took us to lunch and that was very nice. I enjoyed visiting with him and my stepmom. We only live about 65 miles away, but dont see enough of each other. Today, I slept late. Yes, I was lazy. I was going to sew for me, but didnt. Watched a little TV. Knitted on socks. We bought a TCBY cake for my birthday. wonderful. I even broke down and vacumned the floor. It really needed it. Much thread from laying out quilts. LOL

So, no new quilts to show off. Here is one from Jan. this year. This is a t-shirt quilt I made from National Guard t-shirts and ACU (uniform) fabric.
DH is in the SC National Guard. Our FRG (family readiness group) raffled this quilt to raise money for coming home activities, as our soldiers came home from Afganistan. They all returned as the end of May.

I finished to Chunky Churndash top, not quilted yet. I think it looks good, lots of baseballs. I think any little boy will like this.

I took a class Saturday calle 4 Patch Swirl. It was taugh by Lynn Buske, who designed it. We did alot in class. Sunday afternoon I finishe making the parts. Now all I have to do is put them together. Here is a picture of the fabric I swirled and a picture of the pieces. I know it is loud, but I just love it.

I have a lot of quilts to quilt for others this week, so I know it will be a busy week for me.

Have fun quilting.

Ditty Bag

Been very busy this week quilting customers quilts. Dont have anything new to add. Still working on the chunky churn dash. So I thought I would post pictures of and older project. Not to old. I made this ditty bag for a young lady that graduated from high school this year. She asked for a quilt or a pair of my knitted socks about 2 weeks before graduation. So this is left over fabric from a coat I made, I had already quilted it. Made the bag from pattern found on Kelly's blog http://dragoknit.blogspot.com/2007/02/box-bag-tutorial.html. great pattern and soooo easy. anyway I put the socks inside. I had to tell her to open the bag. What a supprised face. She was so happy. Made me happy to. Will different things as I find the pictures.
have a good day.

Fourth of July

My husband has been making his own quilt. Here he is with the quilting finished. Just needs a trim and border. And here he is quilting away. Next is a close up. Yes, he cut and pieced this all by himself. I am very proud of him. He said he just wanted to see if he could do it. It took most of Friday and Saturday to quilt, would have finished Sat. morning except the thread started breaking on the longarm. Havent figured that one out. I stayed near to help with the longarm.
I wish I could figure out how to get the pictures where I want them. It maybe asking too much for the computer soggy brain. LOL

Starting My Blog

Hi all, I am trying to start this blog thing, again. So here I go. This is what I am working on right now. A chunky churn dash from Bonnie Hunter. http://www.quiltville.com/ . So easy and fun. As you can tell it has a baseball theme. This will be for our great nephew in NC. I just know he will love it.

I am a longarm quilter, living in South Carolina. I quilt for myself and others. I also like to knit socks and read. I read all kinds of books and take an adventure with each.
